FBMSVL is a dedicated hardware safety voting module for Foxboro I/A Series SIS safety instrument systems, designed to implement mandatory 2oo3 safety logic without relying on controller software, eliminating software failure risks for critical ESD, fire & gas, burner management safety loops. Three independent isolated digital safety signals from field transmitters or FBM24x safety I/O are fed into separate hardware circuits inside FBMSVL. Only when two or more channels detect fault/trip status will the module trigger hard relay trip output to cut off fuel, close isolation valves or activate emergency shutdown equipment. All voting logic is implemented via discrete analog hardware circuits, no CPU or firmware involved; even if the main DCS/FCP controller fails, FBMSVL maintains independent safety trip capability, meeting SIL3 single fault tolerance requirements. Integrated continuous hardware self-diagnosis monitors channel wiring breakage, short circuit, power supply abnormality and internal voting circuit damage, lighting FAULT LED and sending diagnostic alarm to SIS controller for real-time fault notification.
